From retired journalist Don Surber:
Journalisn't (Times retracts award-winning series)
Readers are terrific and kind in alerting my typos and other errors. They also send me news tips, for which I am grateful. I check them out. Sometimes the stories I reject turn out to be true. Oh well. I can come back to them later.
Getting the facts right is the whole point, isn't it? Typos are regrettable. Telling people Putin rigged the 2016 election is unforgivable.
Today a reader tipped me to a Daily Mail story that had a great headline, and no facts. Clickbait. I sent the reader a one word reply:
Journalisn't.
I really should have thanked him. He took the time to tip me to what could have been a juicy story. My job is to check it out.
Sadly, there is more journalisn't than journalism these days.
Great word - spread it around. More examples at Don's website.
