Town almost bans DiHydrogen Monoxide
I had written about possible dangers of DiHydrogen Monoxide
here.
The town of Aliso Viejo, CA (South of LA, near San Juan Capistrano) considered banning the use of foam coffee cups after learning that this chemical was used in their manufacture.
As reported by the
Mercury News:
bq. City officials were so concerned about the potentially dangerous properties of dihydrogen monoxide that they considered banning foam cups after they learned the chemical was used in their production.
bq. Then they learned that dihydrogen monoxide - H2O for short - is the scientific term for water.
bq. "It's embarrassing," said City Manager David J. Norman. "We had a paralegal who did bad research."
Heh...
