Computer gaming in the late 1970's - Zork
If you were gaming in 1979, you were playing interactive "adventure" style games where you enter a room, look around and find objects such as lights, treasure and weapons. The biggest at that time was a game originally written at MIT called
Zork. It was ported to most systems, even the IBM PC - you can play it online here:

The chief threat in Zork was a
Grue - it was afraid of light and so was never seen. Whenever you entered a dark room or corridor, you were in danger of being eaten by a Grue.
