Activism is big business in the USA - a lot of money being spent to get people stirred up. Take the riot in Chicago on November 12th (last night). From the Chicago Tribune:
Thousands march in anti-Trump protests in downtown Chicago for 4th day
Carrying signs and chanting, “Not my president,” thousands of people marched through the streets of downtown Chicago on Saturday to protest President-elect Donald Trump.
On the fourth day of demonstrations since the Tuesday election, protesters walked shoulder to shoulder down the Magnificent Mile to Millennium Park, pausing outside the Trump Tower along the Chicago River where police set up barricades to keep them from getting close.
This was not a spontaneous grass-roots protest, instead, these people were paid $15/hour and more and were bused in from outside of Chicago for the event. Here is dashcam footage of the buses used:
Moreover, the media is in the tank for these people. From yesterday's USA Today:
Trump protesters' resounding message: No national mandate
They come in all ages and walks of life, unflinching and determined to be heard.
Mothers with young children, hoping to impart an up-close lesson in history. Animated college students stretching their political vocal cords for the first time. Aging Baby Boomers who haven't toted a protest sign since their anti-war days in the 1970s.
One such protester:
Yong Jung Cho, 26, who organized a candlelight vigil in front of the White House on Wednesday night, said about 2,000 people showed up. "Together, we sang, we cried and we marched" to Trump's hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue. "In this moment, the protests are showing the people, the country and the world that we are here for each other."
And, this email from the John Podesta Wikileaks:
Cho is a campaign coordinator. Here is a screencap from the Seattle Craigslist advertising for people to protest - pay is $15 to $22/hour:
The advertisement was subsequently taken down but not before someone saved a copy - remember, the Internet is forever!
Time for these people to wake up and start dealing with reality. The next eight years are going to be a time of transformation and people who really want to make a difference are needed. This does not include idiots who just want to smash stuff. More here, here, here and here.
The joke of it is that just a few words from Obama or Hillary could shut these riots down instantly. Do they make a statement? No.
