Just didn't like the way they fit or wore. Been wearing Carhart pants for well over 20 years. Fit me well, comfortable and last a long long time. If I wore Levi Jeans, I would be finding an alternative after seeing this:

Every single business I have owned or managed, I always kept it free of politics or personal opinion. Places I have worked - restaurants, Microsoft, an engineering company, etc... have always been the same. You do not bring politics into the workplace unless the work being done is political.

I stopped using Gillette products after they got "woke" with their two advertisements. I would be doing the same for Levi's if I still used them.

From The Washington Times:

Man with gas cans arrested at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York
A New Jersey man has been arrested after entering St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City with two cans of gasoline.

Police say the 37-year-old man was stopped by security after he entered the landmark cathedral in Manhattan just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

As the man was turned, police say gasoline spilled out onto the floor. Security then notified nearby police who questioned the man outside the church and took him into custody.

Police say the man was carrying over four gallons of gas, two bottles of lighter fluid and two butane lighters.

Police are still talking to the man, who claimed his minivan had run out of gas.

Run out of gas - yeah, that's the ticket...

NY Assembly: No free college tuition for Gold Star families
New York lawmakers on Tuesday refused to advance a bill that would have provided free college tuition to the families of military personnel from the state who were killed in the line of duty.

The Assembly’s Higher Education Committee voted 15 to 11 to hold the bipartisan bill, effectively ending its chances of making it to a floor vote this session.

The move comes a week after lawmakers passed a $175 billion state budget that included $27 million to provide college tuition aid for undocumented immigrants.

Sick - from The Detroit News:

Jackson gay rights leader accused of burning down own home
When the home of Nikki Joly burned down in 2017, killing five pets, the FBI investigated it as a hate crime.

After all, the transgender man and gay rights activist had received threats after having a banner year in this conservative town.

In the prior six months, he helped open the city’s first gay community center, organized the first gay festival and, after 18 years of failed attempts, helped lead a bruising battle for an ordinance that prohibits discrimination against gays.

For his efforts, a local paper named him the Citizen of the Year.

Aaaand wait for it:

Authorities later determined the fire was intentionally set, but the person they arrested came as a shock to both supporters and opponents of the gay rights movement. It was the citizen of the year — Nikki Joly.

What makes this especially heinous is that Joly did not own the house - it was a rental and that  two German Shepherds and three cats were in the house and died when the fire was set.

Man accused of pulling gun on couple wearing MAGA hats
A Tennessee man is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment after witnesses told police he pulled a gun on a man who was wearing Make America Great Again hat inside Sam’s Club.

The hat is associated with President Donald Trump’s campaign for office.

James Phillips, 57, of Cottontown, Tenn., is accused of pulling a gun on the man inside the store Saturday after making an obscene gesture with his finger, according to his arrest citation.

Phillips, who was wearing a veterans cap, told police he made the gesture at the man and a woman with him because of the MAGA hats they were wearing, according to his citation. The man then confronted Phillips inside the store and an argument began.

That man then made the same obscene gesture to Phillips, according to the citation. At that point, witnesses told police Phillips pointed a gun at the man.

Got to be a mental health issue - if Phillips is actually a Vet, maybe PTSD. Of all the states, President Trump is having the best effect in the "flyover" states. Life in Kentucky is a lot better since he took office - better employment, better economy, etc...

A Clark County mother was arrested after her 4-year-old daughter became unresponsive at school and tested positive for cocaine.

Winchester police were called to Clark Regional Medical Center on Thursday, after the girl became unresponsive at school and was taken to the hospital, court records show. Tests came back positive for cocaine, according to the police citation.

The child’s mother, Anniquta Wright, 31, told police that she let “a friend sell cocaine and crack cocaine at her residence while the kids were there,” according to the police citation. “Wright admitted that the kids would even sit at the table with the friend.”

The friend had been at Wright’s home on Third Street in Winchester until about 3 a.m. Thursday, according to the citation.

'Frosty had the last laugh': Vandal tries to run over giant snowman, hits tree stump instead

20190117-snowman.jpg

A would-be vandal was stumped after they tried to run over a 9-foot snowman in Kentucky, only to find it had been built over a large tree stump.

Cody Lutz told KCCI that he, his fiancee and his soon-to-be sister-in-law made the oversized snowman in Petersburg, Kentucky, while enjoying the winter weather this past weekend.

Lutz said his fiancee’s sister was “elated to experience the biggest snowfall she’s ever seen.”

Lutz said he decided to use a tree stump as the base for the snowman. After coming home from work, Lutz said he found tire tracks leading up to the snowman, leading him to believe that someone tried to run over the giant snowman, which they had named Frosty.

There’s now a massive stump now exposed, with a snowy imprint of a bumper stuck to it.

That dent in the bumper is going to be hard to explain...

GATWICK GRINCH BUSTS Gatwick live updates – Two arrested for ‘criminal use of drones’ after airport chaos saw hundreds of flights grounded
POLICE have arrested two people for criminal use of drones after the chaos at Gatwick airport.

It comes a day after drone attacks by suspected eco-warriors caused holiday carnage with a raft of cancellations.

Sussex police took two suspects into custody after raids at 10pm last night.

Police Superintendent James Collis said: “Our investigations are still on-going, and our activities at the airport continue to build resilience to detect and mitigate further incursions from drones, by deploying a range of tactics.

33 hours and 760 cancelled flights - a lot of very pissed off people. No word on who the drone operators were or if these were the actual perps. Jail time is too good for them. Rope. Tree.

One of the biggest online forums for Role Playing Games is RPG.NET - they just had a policy update:

New Ban: Do Not Post In Support of Trump or his Administration
The following policy announcement is the result of over a year of serious debate by the moderation team. The decision is as close to unanimous as we ever get. It will not be the subject of further debate. We have fully considered the downsides and ultimately decided we have to stay true to our values. We will not pretend that evil isn’t evil, or that it becomes a legitimate difference of political opinion if you put a suit and tie on it.

We are banning support of Donald Trump or his administration on the RPGnet forums. This is because his public comments, policies, and the makeup of his administration are so wholly incompatible with our values that formal political neutrality is not tenable. We can be welcoming to (for example) persons of every ethnicity who want to talk about games, or we can allow support for open white supremacy. Not both. Below will be an outline of the policy and a very incomplete set of citations.

Pittsburgh synagogue shooter tended to by Jewish doctors and nurses, officials say
Jewish doctors and nurses at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh put their personal feelings aside to help save the life of the man who allegedly claimed he wanted to “kill all the Jews” as he opened fire at a synagogue and murdered 11 worshipers.

Robert Bowers, 46, was shot multiple times himself and taken to AGH. In addition to killing eight men and three women, he wounded six other people, including four police officers, before surrendering Saturday.

“He was taken to my hospital and he’s shouting, ‘I want to kill all the Jews’,” Dr. Jeffrey Cohen, president of Allegheny General Hospital and a member of the Tree of Life Synagogue, told ABC. “The first three people who took care of him were Jewish.”

From FOX News:

Homeless veteran will get the $400,000 owed to him from GoFundMe campaign
Johnny Bobbitt Jr., a homeless Philadelphia ex-Marine, will get the money owed to him from a GoFundMe campaign that raised more than $400,000 for him, his attorney Chris Fallon tells CNN.

“We reached an agreement today with GoFundMe and they have agreed to make sure he will be made whole,” Fallon says.

In a statement, the company said it would back the money raised:

“…Our platform is backed by the GoFundMe Guarantee, which means that in the rare case that GoFundMe, law enforcement or a user finds campaigns are misused, donors and beneficiaries are protected.”

In case you had not heard:

A couple, Kate McClure and Mark D’Amico, started the campaign after McClure ran out of gas and became stranded last October, and Bobbitt helped her out with his last $20.

The page was titled “Paying it Forward,” and the response was incredible: 14,347 people donated $402,706 over the course of 10 months.

Since then, the money has been in dispute, and Bobbitt is suing the couple, accusing them of fraud. Bobbitt’s attorney says his client has only seen about $75,000 of that money and should have gotten about $300,000 more after GoFundMe’s fees.

The couple has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, but a court order deadline for them to hand over the cash has passed.

They spent and gambled all the money away. Disgusting. Glad that GoFundMe stepped up to the plate.

Unreal - from Boingboing:

The future is here today: you can't play Bach on Youtube because Sony says they own his compositions
James Rhodes, a pianist, performed a Bach composition for his Youtube channel, but it didn't stay up -- Youtube's Content ID system pulled it down and accused him of copyright infringement because Sony Music Global had claimed that they owned 47 seconds' worth of his personal performance of a song whose composer has been dead for 300 years.

This is a glimpse of the near future. In one week, the European Parliament will vote on a proposal to force all online services to implement Content ID-style censorship, but not just for videos -- for audio, text, stills, code, everything.

Just last week, German music professor Ulrich Kaiser posted his research on automated censorship of classical music, in which he found that it was nearly impossible to post anything by composers like Bartok, Schubert, Puccini and Wagner, because companies large and small have fraudulently laid claim to their whole catalogs.

Europeans have one week to contact their MEPs to head off this catastrophe.

Stop what you're doing and contact two friends in the EU right now and send them to Save Your Internet -- before it's too late.

Cuyahoga County judge orders man’s mouth taped shut during sentencing
It was an unusual sight in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday.

Franklyn Williams, 32, is accused of three armed robberies in Richmond Heights and Euclid.

During his sentencing hearing, Williams would not stop talking, despite more than a dozen warnings from Judge John Russo over the course of about 30 minutes. Williams even interrupted his own attorneys.

Russo handled the situation by ordering deputies to tape the defendant's mouth shut.

Six deputies stood around Williams as one applied the red tape, but he continued to speak. The judge instructed deputies to put another piece of tape over his mouth in order for proceedings to continue.

Eventually, Judge Russo sentenced Williams to 24 years in prison.

A Saltgrass Steak House in Odessa, Texas has banned a customer after the customer left no tip on a $108 bill and wrote on it “We don’t Tip Terrorist,” and circled the server’s name, Khalil according to the Odessa American.

Khalil Cavil posted what happened last Saturday on Facebook.

“I was sick to my stomach,” upon seeing the receipt he said in his post. “I share this because I want people to understand that this racism, and this hatred still exists. Although, this is nothing new, it is still something that will test your faith. All day I’ve had to remind myself that Jesus died for these people too. I have decided to let this encourage me, and fuel me to change the world the only way I know how. So to all the haters out there, keep talkin, your only helping me step into my destiny!”

And chaser - from the Odessa, TX Odessa American:

Saltgrass COO, waiter say racism story made up
The Odessa waiter whose story about being called a terrorist by a customer spurred national attention last week now admits it was all a hoax.

The waiter, Khalil Cavil, 20, admitted he wrote the racist note himself in a Monday interview with the Odessa American, where he apologized to a reporter “because I did lie to you.”

“I did write it,” Cavil said, refusing to explain why. “I don’t have an explanation. I made a mistake. There is no excuse for what I did.”

Cavil’s call followed a press release from Saltgrass Steak House revealing the hoax. Cavil had lied about receiving the note calling him a terrorist while working at the restaurant on July 14.

Terry Turney, COO of Saltgrass, issued this: “After further investigation, we have learned that our employee fabricated the entire story. The customer has been contacted and invited back to our restaurant to dine on us. Racism of any form is intolerable, and we will always act swiftly should it occur in any of our establishments. Falsely accusing someone of racism is equally disturbing.”

Good that the chief operating officer was so proactive. I would have loved to have heard his "words" with Mr. Cavil.

Whoopi Goldberg and Jeanine Pirro got into an explosive argument backstage at “The View” on Thursday — after an intense on-the-air exchange got even more heated behind-the-scenes, sources exclusively tell Page Six.

The confrontation ended with liberal Goldberg allegedly shouting, “F–k you, get the f–k out!” at President Trump supporter and Fox News host Pirro.

During the screaming match, Pirro told Goldberg, “I’ve done more for abused women than you will ever do,” we hear.

The trouble, sources told us, started before Pirro even went on-air to promote her new book, “Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy” — when Pirro arrived at “The View” to learn that anti-Trump CNN contributor Ana Navarro was filling in for Joy Behar.

Fat boy Kim is in China - from Bloomberg:

Kim Jong Un Is Making a Surprise China Visit, Sources Say
Kim Jong Un made a surprise visit to Beijing on his first known trip outside North Korea since taking power in 2011, three people with knowledge of the visit said.

Further details of his trip, including how long Kim would stay and who he would meet, were not immediately available. The people asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the information.

Speculation about a possible visit by a high-ranking North Korean official circulated around the Chinese capital Monday, after Japan’s Kyodo News reported that a special train may have carried Kim through the northeastern border city of Dandong. Nippon TV showed footage of a train arriving Monday in Beijing that looked similar to one used by Kim’s father, Kim Jong Il, to visit the country shortly before his death in 2011.

The unannounced visit is the latest in series of diplomatic power plays in Asia as U.S. President Donald Trump’s battle to lower the U.S. trade deficit becomes entangled with his effort to get Kim to give up his nuclear weapons. Chinese President Xi Jinping has found himself preparing for a trade war with Trump even after supporting progressive rounds of United Nations sanctions against the Kim regime.

Wonder if he is planning to abdicate - he is worth billions. Because of a suspicious earthquake last October, he no longer has nuclear bombs or a delivery system. He could live out his days quite comfortably with all the money he looted from that poor nation.

The sensationalist media are in part complicit in the rise of school (and public) shootings. From Arizona State University:

Researchers find mass killings, school shootings are contagious
Sherry Towers was at Purdue University for a meeting on Jan. 21, 2014, when a gunman shot, stabbed and killed a student. Recalling three other school shootings that had made the news in the prior week, she wondered if the string of tragedies was more than coincidental.

In the days that followed, Towers, a statistician, modeler and an Arizona State University research professor, decided to study the data.

“I wondered if it was just a statistical fluke, or if somehow through news media those events were sometimes planting unconscious ideation in vulnerable people for a short time after each event,” she said.

Towers, who is affiliated with the Simon A. Levin Mathematical, Computational and Modeling Sciences Center, gathered a team of fellow researchers with a strong modeling and mathematics background. Joining her on the project were Regents’ Professor Carlos Castillo-Chavez, ASU assistant professor Anuj Mubayi, ASU graduate student Andres Gomez-Lievano and undergraduate student Maryam Khan of Northeastern Illinois University’s Mathematics Department.

These sick individuals think that they are going to go out in a blaze of fame and glory. If the media refused to publish their names and actually criticized them (that crazy little shit), the shootings would decline greatly. T is downtown now and is being blocked by this protest. From The Seattle Times:

Protesters of youth jail block busy Seattle intersections, march through downtown
Opponents of King County’s efforts to build a new youth jail blocked several intersections while protesting in downtown Seattle on Friday morning.

Some protesters linked their arms with piping and lay in the intersection of Fourth Avenue and James Street from about 8 to 10:45 a.m. They and others, about three dozen in all, then began marching north to Fifth Avenue and Stewart Street, where they stopped and some lay down again on cardboard and tarps.

Julianna Alson, a spokeswoman for the No New Youth Jail Coalition, said construction of the new jail would be tantamount to a commitment to more youth incarceration, especially among minorities and people of color.

The Seattle Department of Transportation warned motorists to avoid the area. Traffic was backed up on surrounding blocks and on Interstate 5 and 90. King County Metro reported “significant delays” on bus routes through downtown.

Protesters said they shut down the street to send a message to King County Executive Dow Constantine demanding he immediately halt what they called the unlawful construction of the youth jail and court complex.

Well gee - if there was not a significant uptick in juvanile crime, this facility would not be needed now would it. And besides, this is old news - the funding was approved six years ago and the facility is currently under construction:

County voters in 2012 approved a $210 million levy to pay for a replacement for the existing juvenile-justice complex at 12th Avenue and East Alder Street in Seattle’s Central Area. Construction has begun on the facility.

Everett student had a plan: ‘I’m learning from past shooters’
A would-be school shooter in Everett bought inert grenades, hid a military-style rifle in a guitar case and carried out an armed robbery to fund an elaborate plot to kill his classmates, according to police.

The grandmother of Joshua Alexander O’Connor, 18, found alarming journal entries Tuesday at her home on Holly Drive, according to reports filed in court. She called police. An officer pulled O’Connor from class at ACES High School to arrest him.

“I’m preparing myself for the school shooting,” he had written in the journal. “I can’t wait. My aim has gotten much more accurate … I can’t wait to walk into that class and blow all those (expletives) away.”

O’Connor wrote that he wanted the death count to be as high as possible so that the shooting would be infamous, according to court papers. He went into detail about building pressure-cooker bombs, activating inert grenades and deploying explosives for maximum casualties.

This guy was just another fscking loser: "so that the shooting would be infamous"

Police chief thought he found a 14-year-old ‘playmate’ online — but it was an officer, cops say
When Pennsylvania police officer Daniel Block saw an advertisement online titled “dominate male officer seeks fun, discreet, sub playmate,” he decided to investigate.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by WTAE, the ad read: "I am a dom male that is also employed as a full time police officer. I hope that does not scare you off. I am white, straight, good looking, clean, d/d free, mentally stable and fun. I can also host or travel. I do have pics to share and I am very discreet.

“I am looking for a female sub for ongoing play sessions,” it continued. “I do not have a set type of woman so any age, race or status may email me. I respect any and all limits and you do not need to be experienced. I hope to hear from someone soon. KIK=kutecop4you.”

So Block said he began to impersonate a 14-year-old, reminding the person behind the account named “kutecop4you” that he was seemingly talking to an eighth grader “on multiple occasions,” according to TribLive.

No big fan of Bill Nye (the Science Guy). He was funny when I lived in Seattle and saw him on the Almost Live show. He was a total asshole in real life - I ran into him several times and attempted to say hello as my Dad was a frequent judge on Pittsburgh, PA's KDKA School Science Countdown TV program in the late 1950's and early 1960's. Thought it would be fun to compare notes - then and now. He blew me off a couple times and I stopped trying after that. Really nasty about it too - bad language.

Bill Nye gets destroyed in Q&A forum
Bill Nye just got his you-know-what handed to him on his own Reddit forum where readers are allowed to "Ask Me Anything":

Reddit user bpoag eviscerates fake scientist Bill Nye:

Hi Bill,

I have a great way you can start.

Stop pretending you're a scientist.

In science, we begin with facts. The facts show you have no formal science education beyond a Bachelors in mechanical engineering from Cornell. That's it. Not even a Masters degree, let alone a Doctorate. You literally have no formal science education beyond an undergraduate degree. The facts also show that the whole "Science Guy" persona emerged out of a stand-up comedy routine you used to perform on local public-access TV back in the 80's:

You've spent years parading around in a lab coat, even after your Disney series ended.. parading around in a way which makes most people, particularly children, think that you're qualified to speak on matters you have no formal experience, education, or training on. For all intents and purposes, you're a talented actor-comedian with an opinion who inserts himself into public dialogue...and that's about it.

Good science also requires peer-review, so, here you go:

If I walked around in scrubs, hung a stethoscope around my neck, and called myself "Bpoag the Medicine Guy", I would be a considered complete fraud, would I not? Even though some of my opinions and observations might be correct, i'm still not a physician... Nor should I be considered one. I'm simply not qualified to speak in that realm, let alone make decisions, let alone attempt to guide public policy. You are to science what Betsy DeVos is to education. Perhaps worse; your fraud has spanned decades. Hers, only a few months.

And it gets better - a fun read and links to some of Bill's more cringeworthy videos.

Gunman in Sutherland Springs church shooting ID'd as Devin Kelley, authorities say
A shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, Sunday morning left 26 people -- ranging in age from 5 to 72 years old -- dead and 20 wounded, authorities say.

Devin Patrick Kelley, of New Braunfels, has been identified as the gunman.

Kelley walked into the First Baptist Church and began shooting around 11:20 a.m., before fleeing in a vehicle, Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt said. Witnesses said Kelley was dressed in all black tactical gear and a ballistic vest and a Department of Public Safety official said he was carrying a Ruger ARb assault-type rifle.

DOOMSDAY CONSPIRACY THEORY: DAVID MEADE RESCHEDULES APOCALYPSE FOR OCTOBER AFTER WORLD DIDN'T END
The conspiracy theorist who supposedly predicted the world would end on September 23 has clarified his doomsday prophecy, saying the rapture is, in fact, coming in October.

David Meade, a self-proclaimed "researcher" and Catholic who hit global headlines last week, believes the end of the world as we know it, as foretold in the biblical Book of Revelation, will take place next month and the 23rd was simply a sign of the oncoming of the oncoming disaster.

Writing on his website, Meade clarified his belief that the 23rd is the date of a “historical event” in the skies that would signal the oncoming rapture. Doomsday itself, he says, will begin on October 15.

Stolen Valor - Richard Blumenthal

From the Infogalactic post for Military imposter:

A military imposter is a person who makes false claims about his or her military service in civilian life. This includes claims by people that have never been in the military as well as lies or embellishments by genuine veterans. Some individuals who do this also wear privately obtained uniforms or medals which were never officially issued to them.

In British military slang, such imposters are called "Walts", based on James Thurber's fictional character, Walter Mitty, who daydreamed of being a war hero. In the United States since the early 2000s, the term "stolen valor" has become popular slang for this kind of behavior, so named for the 1998 book of that name.

Former Representative Christopher Shays of Connecticut found it puzzling: over time, his friend Attorney General Richard Blumenthal kept revising how he talked about his military service during the Vietnam War. At first, in the 1980s, he was humble. He played it down, Mr. Shays recalled, characterizing it as humdrum desk work.

Over the last few years, however, more sweeping claims crept into Mr. Blumenthal’s descriptions, he said: that Mr. Blumenthal had served in Vietnam and had felt the sting of an ungrateful nation as he returned.

“He just kept adding to the story, the more he told it,” Mr. Shays said.

Mr. Shays said he became alarmed enough by the discrepancies that he at times considered mentioning the issue to Mr. Blumenthal, who on Tuesday said he took “full responsibility” for the occasions when he “misspoke” about his military history.

There is actually a law against this kind of lying - it was passed in 2005 and then amended in 2013 after a Supreme Court case.

Evergreen College near the WA State capital is a hotbed of liberal activism. A pity as they once had really good visual arts, music and some strong science programs. Now they are just about indoctrination. As a public institution, my tax dollars goes to support this foolishness. Reading this brings a smile to my face - from Campus Reform:

EXCLUSIVE: Weinstein files $3.8M claim against Evergreen State
Bret Weinstein, the Evergreen State College professor who was driven from campus by a mob of students earlier this year, is preparing to file a $3.8 million claim against the public institution.

According to documents obtained by Campus Reform, Weinstein and his wife, Heather Heying, have filed a standard Tort Claim form against Evergreen State for a sum of $3,850,000.

Much more at the site - looks like they have a solid case if they get a good Judge. And, as always, discovery can be a bitch (from the communication):

“Please be on notice that this demand covers not only those records covered by any public records acts but those which are or were communicated by private means of any type including but not limited to email and photography. This demand should be immediately distributed campus-wide to all faculty and staff.”...

“Take note that the destruction or alteration of evidence is a felony,” the document added. “This demand is made in contemplation of litigation. Please promptly acknowledge receipt of this communication and confirm that you will comply.”

I really hope they win - make it painful for the little snowflakes and their marxist enabling professors.

Another reason to shop at Lowe's

If this previous story was not bad enough - this just takes the cake. From Bored Panda:

Employee Saves Child From Kidnapper, Instead Of Promotion Gets This Letter Saying He’s Fired
This guy from Portland, Oregon just lost his job at Home Depot for violating company policy, which doesn’t sound like such a big deal until you realize that the reason he broke the rules was because he was stopping a child from getting kidnapped!

“At the time, the only thing I was thinking about was the child’s safety,” said 32-year-old Dillon Reagan, who had worked at the Mall 205 store for four years before he was bizarrely dismissed for his heroics. “I stepped outside and sure enough, there’s this lady who’s frantic and crying, ‘Somebody help me please! He’s stealing my kid, he’s kidnapping my child!’”

Reagan and a colleague called the police and then, on the advice of the dispatcher, they followed the man on foot until the police arrived. After giving their statements, Reagan said they returned to the store around 10 minutes later, but the next day he was surprised when his supervisor scolded him for “doing the wrong thing.” A month later the company fired him for breaking the company’s safety policy, and even though they’ve since reversed their decision (possibly in light of media attention), Reagan says he isn’t sure if he wants to reclaim his job given the unfair treatment he’s received. What would you do? Let us know in the comments below. (h/t: KGW)

Someone needs to get their head out of their ass and start treating their customers and their employees like human beings. Story number one was just a bad manager. Following up with a second story indicates a sick corporate culture. Heads need to roll. I was in Lowe's just today getting some paint. Not shopping at Home Depot until I hear a profound and sincere apology.

Fscking hypocrites - from FOX News:

Gay Trump supporters denied entry into Charlotte Pride Parade
A group says ‘Charlotte Pride’ is pushing them out of the Gay Pride Parade because they support President Trump.

"I’m very proud of my country, proud of my president, and was once proud of my community," said Brian Talbert, who said he’s proud to be gay and proud to be a Trump supporter.

A bit more:

Talbert, a member of "Gays for Trump, which is not affiliated with the "Gays for Trump" based in Greensboro, NC, said he and a fellow gay Trump supporter sent in an application to Charlotte Pride so they could have a float in this year's Charlotte Pride Parade.

"It was going to be fun. We wanted to be energetic. We wanted to show that we weren't the racist, bigot, misogynistic…We wanted to show that we are Americans, love our country and our president. We wanted to be there to celebrate gay pride. Everything fell into place except being able to celebrate who I am," he said.

Talbert said Charlotte Pride sent him an email denying his application for a float.

"For a group of people to claim to want tolerance, acceptance, and give it to every single person you can imagine to give it to, for them to sit back and judge me for exercising my right as an American to choose my leader without judgment is hypocritical," Talbert said.

Really shows what the narrative is - they virtue signal about tolerance but their actions? Not so much. Talbert started up a wonderful website: DeplorablePride

Un-fscking-real - Portland, OR

Last week, two women in Portland had to close their taco truck because people were complaining that they were appropriating the Mexican culture and, being white women, they were not allowed to do that. Some people compiled a list of all the restaurants that are culturally appropriating cuisine - from the Tasting Table:

This Is a List of Every "Culturally Appropriative" Restaurant in Portland
Last week, the Internet exploded over a white-owned Portland burrito truck that was forced to close over an issue of cultural appropriation. After being featured in a Portland-based magazine, word that the two women had "stolen" their recipes from Mexico spread like wildfire, causing Kooks Burritos to shutter amid the controversy.

In the aftermath of the closing, many commenters online voiced their agreement with the consequences, while others found the claims of cultural appropriation to be largely unfounded and exaggerated.

Still, people of color (POC) in the Portland community want to take more steps toward preventing cultural appropriation from taking over their food culture. In response, a Google Doc called "(Alternatives To) White-Owned Appropriative Restaurants in Portland" is now in circulation, featuring an extensive list of what the creators deem to be appropriative establishments in Portland. The list, which can be viewed here, offers the names of the business owners, as well as the nearest POC-owned dining alternative for each restaurant.

From the document:

This is NOT about cooking at home or historical influences on cuisines; it's about profit, ownership, and wealth in a white supremacist culture.
White people are nearly 50% more likely than people of color (POC) to own a business in the state of Oregon. Ownership builds wealth in ways that employment does not. The racial wealth and small business lending gaps in the US are pronounced, which allows white folks to open new businesses more easily. These white-owned businesses hamper the ability for POC to run successful businesses of their own (cooking their own cuisines) by either consuming market share with their attempt at authenticity or by modifying foods to market to white palates. Their success further perpetuates the problems stated above. It's a cyclical pattern that will require intentional behavior change to break.

Hmmmm - the Tard is strong in that one. Or as Bugs the Wise once said:

The headline is all that you need - from The London Daily Mail:

'There's a bunch of old white guys trying to silence me!' Kathy Griffin breaks down in tears claiming Trump family ruined her life - as her lawyer scoffs at report Barron was upset over severed head video

Pathetic - this is one of the cases where the word "Bimbo" really applies.

Good riddance - Prenda Law

They got their day in court. From Engadget:

Copyright troll lawyer is finally disbarred for fraud
illegal to download copyrighted files from file-sharing sites, it is also against the law to extort downloaders. John L. Steele, a Chicago lawyer who pled guilty to perjury, fraud and money laundering resulting from alleged "honeypot" schemes, has just been disbarred by an Illinois court. Both Steele and his law partner, Paul Hasmeier, were indicted last March for uploading porn videos that they acquired through sham companies in the West Indies and then suing whomever downloaded them, resulting in a staggering $6 million in settlement fees. That's quite a honeypot.

According to the Cook County Record, Steele's law firm, Prenda, would use court subpoenas to find out who had downloaded the pornographic content -- some of which they filmed themselves -- and then allegedly pressure the downloaders for settlement money in exchange for dropping the suit. Profiting from such extortions without disclosure is what led to a US district judge sanctioning Steele and Hasmeier in 2013, as well as passing the case along to the FBI. Hasmeier's case is still pending, though his law license was suspended in 2016.

Heh - have fun appealing this one...

Good news from Washington State

Act out at a protest tantrum, you deserve to be identified and prosecuted. From The Seattle Times:

Wearing masks, hoods at protests could become crime under new bill
Protesters wearing masks or hoods during demonstrations could be charged with a crime, if one GOP state senator has his way.

The bill by state Sen. Jim Honeyford, R-Sunnyside, arrives as similar laws are being considered in other states, including Georgia, Missouri and Montana.

SB 5941 would make it illegal for someone to stand on a sidewalk, road or any public ground with their face covered, unless that person was exempted for religious or myriad other reasons spelled out in the bill.

And the reason for this bills genesis:

Introduced Monday, Honeyford’s proposal is aimed at “a small but dangerous group of individuals who conceal their identities while committing illegal acts under the guise of political protest,” SB 5941 says.

Honeyford said he first considered such legislation after Seattle’s tumultuous 1999 World Trade Organization protests.

But recent May Day demonstrations in Portland and Olympia prompted him to draft the bill, which would make it a gross misdemeanor to wear a mask or hood. Several demonstrators wore masks at those protests, where violence erupted.

Cue the Peanut Gallery:

The exemptions show the bill is designed to target protesters, which is unconstitutional, argued Elisabeth Smith with the ACLU of Washington.

“The First Amendment actually protects people’s right to wear a mask in public” at demonstrations, said Smith, a legislative director for the organization.

“It’s clear that the impetus is to criminalize protest behavior,” Smith added.

Elisabeth - here is the text of the First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

First of all, you are addressing the wrong venue as stated by the Tenth Amendment:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The bill is being brought before the Washington State Congress and only concerns WA State Citizens.

Second, I take this line from the First Amendment:

...the right of the people peaceably to assemble...

Those people acting out did not arrive at the tantrum to peaceably assemble - they came with the intent to do harm to property and people. Elisabeth, you are doing the legal equivalent of flinging poo on the walls and hoping that some of it sticks.

This is a good bill and it will go a long way to reduce the damage from these tantrums. Sure, let them do their thing but they should know that they will be held personally responsible for their actions and there will be people recording their activities.

Want to peaceably assemble? Try it - you might find that you get more traction over the other 99.999% of us citizens trying to get on with our lives...
