Well crap - the FCC takes over the Internet

Net Neutrality my great hairy ass... From The Washington Times:
Wave goodbye to Internet freedom
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is poised to add the Internet to its portfolio of regulated industries. The agency's chairman, Julius Genachowski, announced Wednesday that he circulated draft rules he says will "preserve the freedom and openness of the Internet." No statement could better reflect the gulf between the rhetoric and the reality of Obama administration policies.

With a straight face, Mr. Genachowski suggested that government red tape will increase the "freedom" of online services that have flourished because bureaucratic busybodies have been blocked from tinkering with the Web. Ordinarily, it would be appropriate at this point to supply an example from the proposed regulations illustrating the problem. Mr. Genachowski's draft document has over 550 footnotes and is stamped "non-public, for internal use only" to ensure nobody outside the agency sees it until the rules are approved in a scheduled Dec. 21 vote. So much for "openness."
The time for smaller government is now. The Federal Communications Commission has no business here. This is a power grab and nothing good will come of it.

THANK YOU!!! I thought I was the only one with
palms sweating over this! I called everyone I
knew...I text'd and emailed local government and
members of congress.

This made me sick.

Consider our dependence on television broadcasting
and the control government influences upon it. Our
perception of knowledge is so narrow that we watch
the same news broadcast several times a day...and
week!

Before you change this channel and write me off as
a 'conspiracy theorist', take time out to realize
that the new, flat-panel televisions have ethernet
and wi-fi. Anyone with a computer with port 80
open can serve 'television content' from their
home...thus making everyone a potential 'Opera'
and the FCC doesn't like it.

Just remember that your beliefs come from that box
as well. If you honestly think the Obama admin is
solely to blame, I recommend you widen your
perspective. Nobody is innocent.

Good post. Keep the fire burning.
