The former fighter also complained of the unhygienic conditions in the war-torn lands of Pakistan's Waziristan province and Afghanistan that left him infected with hepatitis, and which were, in his opinion, "incompatible with the teachings of the Koran".

The unflattering portrayal of life in the Taliban came in a statement made by Thomas U. during his trial in Berlin for involvement in a foreign terrorist group.

The 27-year-old had traveled to Waziristan with his wife in the autumn of 2009 with the intention of freeing the area from the "infidel occupiers" after the couple had converted to Islam.

Underlying his dislike of his new life was the Taliban propensity to use drugs, and their "macho" attitude to women. In one case a Taliban fighter went to the German widow of a dead comrade and told her that she would marry him. The proposal was made without any consultation with her, "as if she was just an object" said Thomas U. in his statement.

These kinds of 'revolutionary' movements have always been corrupt bottom-feeding scum. There has never been one with the moral high-ground -- instead, it's always about consolidating power and leaching off the general population. All smoke and mirrors -- narrative and imagery instead of purposeful action. The hagiography of Dear Leader when Dear Leader could care less about his "people". The Taliban promote themselves as moral people striving to rid their homelands of the corrupt Western influence and who want to go back to an earlier time of purity and devotion when in fact, they are a band of thugs who use terror to build their base and who are only after money and power. They use drugs when it is forbidden by the Koran. They use the Opium crop of Afghanistan to finance their operations and if they were so concerned about their lands, why are they exporting terror to our lands. I just see a bunch of feral children -- willfully ignorant 9th century barbarians whose educated 'leaders' are keeping them in that state so they do not know any better, that they have any other options in life.
