Wind is picking up here - starting to gust and the lights flickered a few minutes ago.
It is moving in from the South - Seattle was hit pretty hard - from station KOMO:
1 dead as powerful windstorm slams Western Washington
One person is dead and nearly 250,000 people were in the dark Sunday afternoon as a powerful windstorm slammed Western Washington.
Seattle Fire Department officials said a man died when a tree fell onto their car in the 8500 block of Seward Park Blvd. A passerby saw the crash and rescued a toddler girl from the backseat. That girl was taken to Harborview Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.
Power is out for many people:
Winds gusting in the 50-60 mph range have already knocked out power to nearly 250,000 people, including over 150,000 PSE customers and 45,000 Seattle City Light customers. Snohomish PUD reported 25,000 in the dark while Grays Harbor PUD reported 10,000 in the dark along the coast as winds hit 60 mph there as well. Power outages were reported in Tacoma PUD and Peninsula Light.
Got the furnace cranked up so if power goes out, the house will remain warm for the night. Our electrical utility has their work cut out for themselves. I have the radio running on battery power for tonights net - see how many others have power...
