Makes sense - a merger of titans

There are two powerhouses in analog circuitry components - these people make the chips that take the analog world of music and science and photography and measurement and convert the variable data into the digital realm. Both have been around since God made Dirt - both really awesome companies.

From the Analog Devices website:

Analog Devices and Linear Technology to Combine Creating the Premier Analog Technology Company
Analog Devices, Inc. and Linear Technology Corporation today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Analog Devices will acquire Linear Technology in a cash and stock transaction that values the combined enterprise at approximately $30 billion. Upon completion of the acquisition, Analog Devices will be the premier global analog technology company with approximately $5 billion in anticipated annual revenues.

First started designing with Analog Devices products in 1970 and still using their products today. Great stuff and they listen to their customers. The only other company like this was Burr-Brown but they were assimilated by Texas Instruments back in 2000 - borg lite. Jack would be spinning in his grave.
