Got a bite to eat at the new Roadhouse Bar and Grill. Again, excellent.
Back home and unpacking the truck - Lulu is out tomorrow for a while.
Something very cool happened this afternoon. I have a vacant lot across from the store and there is a large community garden there. Part of it is also a gravel lot in poor condition - large large potholes. Whenever construction happens in this area, the crews always use the lot to park their rigs at the end of the day. They always ask and they are always told to go ahead. I have no other use for the lot at this time.
They are installing a large concrete fish culvert (salmon habitat restoration) under the main highway and had to redirect traffic for a few weeks - they built a temporary road around their construction site. Now that they are done, they pulled up the asphalt and then asked me if I wanted the gravel substrate - they were willing to truck it over to my lot and spread it out. This afternoon, a couple people brought about 15 yards of nice gravel and spread it around - the lot looks fantastic now.
It turns out that since they paved over it, the gravel company would require them to pay money to drop it off with them. The used gravel would have to be sorted and cleaned as it had bits of paving mixed in. This way, they get rid of it for free, I get a much nicer lot and we all win. Our tax dollars at work!
