Paid a bunch of bills and started working with my new (to me) cash register. I had picked it up at auction a few years ago sealed in the box - brand new. Think I paid about $40 for it and they sell for $250 new. I love auctions!
I do not know what it is about cash registers. They work great on a day-to-day basis and are very reliable but programming them is a black art. They put their best engineers on the product and get some wino off the streets to write the programming software. A perfect example of this is that when I open a list of departments to program, the boundaries of the window are fixed. The actual table is wider and longer than the window so I have to scroll through. The window occupies only about a quarter of my monitor real-estate so if I could maximize it, I would not have to scroll all over the place. Arrrgghh.
Brought the software home and pre-loaded an SD card so I can start programming the departments and taxes at my leisure.
