Just wonderful - from the San Jose's The Mercury News:
California climate change law: Ambitious target set as Jerry Brown takes action
California will become a petri dish for international efforts to slow global warming under legislation signed by Gov. Jerry Brown on Thursday, forcing one of the world’s largest economies to squeeze into a dramatically smaller carbon footprint.
And this little bon mot stood out for me:
That means Californians can expect to feel more of what Brown has called the “coercive power of government.” Businesses will likely face more restrictive rules, and taxpayer and ratepayer money will be needed to subsidize cleaner technologies.
And how many more taxpayers will flee? These are technologies that are not economically viable so they must be subsidized with California taxpayer dollars.
One great metric of people movement is how much it costs to rent a U Haul truck from one city to another. Places where people are leaving tend to be higher as there is a higher demand for trucks. Here are the prices between Dallas, Texas and San Francisco, California - click the pic to embiggen:
Twice as much - looks like lots of people are making the move.
