A clown masquerading as a climate scientist - Dr. Peter Wadhams - fancies himself to be an expert on Arctic Ice but his grandiose predictions are dead wrong every time. From Truth-Out:
Arctic Expert on Sea Ice: We Could "Reach Zero" Within Two Years
Arctic sea ice is in big trouble.
This is bad news for multiple reasons, the primary one being that Arctic sea ice helps keep the polar regions cool along with working to moderate the entire global climate.
"Sea ice has a bright surface; 80 percent of the sunlight that strikes it is reflected back into space," explains the National Snow and Ice Data Center's website. "As sea ice melts in the summer, it exposes the dark ocean surface. Instead of reflecting 80 percent of the sunlight, the ocean absorbs 90 percent of the sunlight. The oceans heat up, and Arctic temperatures rise further."
(cough)(bullshit)(cough) Yes, the ocean at the equator absorbs 90% of the sunlight striking it but as you move to higher and higher latitudes, this drops off considerably to where, around 80°, the ocean's albedo is greater than that of ice. Polar regions will always have ice. Besides, ice is a thermal insulator - open seawater will radiate heat away much better than ice at that latitude. His basic thesis is wrong.
When it comes to anthropogenic climate disruption (ACD), the Arctic is the proverbial canary in the coalmine. And if Arctic sea ice expert Dr. Peter Wadhams is right, that canary will likely be gone within two years. This would be the first time in more than 10,000 years that the Arctic sea ice has disappeared.
So they are no longer using the term Anthropogenic Global Warming - it morphed into Climate Change and is now Climate Disruption. Having 19 years of cooling air temperatures will do that.
This is not the first time that Wadhams has come to my attention - I wrote about him two times before:
The second post references this article at the UK Telegraph which is just too surreal to pass up:
Three scientists investigating melting Arctic ice may have been assassinated, professor claims
A Cambridge Professor has made the astonishing claim that three scientists investigating the melting of Arctic ice may have been assassinated within the space of a few months.
Professor Peter Wadhams said he feared being labelled a “looney” over his suspicion that the deaths of the scientists were more than just an ‘extraordinary’ coincidence.
But he insisted the trio could have been murdered and hinted that the oil industry or else sinister government forces might be implicated.
The good professor is seriously off his medications...
