Got a bite to eat at the new Zane Burgers in Fairhaven - smallish burger and a bit skimpy on the toppings but hey, it was $2.79 so a very good deal. They also have a bigger version with a hand-formed patty for $7.99. I'll try that one next. They serve beer which was a nice discovery - we have moved out of milkshake season. Fries were nice and crisp.
The meeting was the final one to coordinate CERT, HAM and Fire activities for the Great Shakeout in two weeks. Me and my team will be stationed in the parking lot of an Elementary School. We will have two teams of CERT volunteers walking the neighborhood and reporting to us with household walkie-talkies (GMRS band) and we will communicate to the two teams and relay their messages via ham radio to Net Control at the district firehall who will use Winlink to relay them to the Emergency Operations Center in Bellingham. We will also be passing clarification messages back down the chain if needed. Two of the larger lakes in this area were enlarged with earthen dams so the potential for serious damage is high. Should be an interesting event - learning a lot with these practices. We met at the Fairhaven firehall and the on-duty Firemen were very interested in what ham radio had to offer.
Got a 10:00AM car appointment tomorrow so surf for a bit, have a glass or two of wine and off to bed.
