Hurricane Matthew is expected to make a direct hit starting tomorrow evening. The global warmists are saying that Matthew's intensity is because of Anthropogenic Global Warming but in reality, this is the first hurricane to make landfall in 4,000 days or almost eleven years. The hurricane count is actually way below normal and although Matthew is a large one, most of them have been smaller than usual.
From NBC News:
Thousands of Americans Head Inland to Escape Hurricane Matthew
Hundreds of thousands of Americans headed for higher ground Wednesday as Hurricane Matthew barreled toward the Florida and South Carolina coasts and the death toll from the monster storm climbed to at least 25.
Evacuations were underway in Florida and South Carolina after Matthew, which hammered Haiti and strafed Cuba, began battering the Bahamas.
And the key thing for Governor Scott (a Republican):
Scott said that 1,500 National Guard members had been activated and that he had asked President Barack Obama to declare a federal emergency in 26 counties.
When Katrina hit New Orleans, people blamed President Bush for the slow federal response to the disaster. It was actually the fault of Governor Kathleen Blanco (a Democrat) who waited for three days to declare a state of emergency and request federal help. The federal government can not come into a state without being asked first. Gov. Scott is making the declaration a day before the disaster happens.
