UPDATE BELOW:
Talk about a bad spell of weather... Started out completely foggy - burned off around 9:00AM or so and we had gorgeous skies and warm temps. Got up to 75.9°F at the farm. It was also very muggy and we could smell wood smoke everywhere. People were burning the downed tree limbs from this winters storms and there was an inversion layer that trapped the smoke. Around 5:00PM, it all broke apart.
I was in downtown Bellingham near the water and could see lightning on Mt. Constitution on Orcas Island - we had quite the thunder and lightning out here too; still going on. The National Weather Service has a short-term forecast for points south of here:
.NOW...
...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Pierce,
Lewis, and Thurston Counties...
Scattered thunderstorms will continue through this evening for
the interior of Western Washington. Some storms may contain hail
or gusty winds.
