Trump becomes first sitting US president to visit Western Wall
President Trump visited the Western Wall on Monday, the first stop at the Jewish holy site by a sitting American commander-in-chief.
The president was accompanied by first lady Melania Trump, daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner – both observant Jews – but walked alone to the wall, where he paused for about a minute with his hand on the ancient stones.
After a moment, Trump, wearing a black skull cap, pulled a slip of paper from his jacket pocket and placed it in a niche in the limestone wall.
The Wailing Wall is such a central and sacred part of Jewish culture, I find it really strange that no other American President has visited it before.
I love it, this guy is unstoppable. Next up is The Vatican. Interesting that his first overseas trip is to the seats of the three Abramahamic Religions of this world and that he and his family are being straight-up class acts all the way. No groveling but tons of mutual respect for the people and the cultures. Hippies may hate but I think we got ourselves a good one here...
