Back home from the day

Took the pups out for a walk and then went out for coffee - recognised three other peole who I knew (this is after being away for 15 years); one of whom used to work there. Went out for a plate of hummus (been having hummus on the brain for the last few days) and stopped at a place in the same building where I used to have my first computer store (this was back in the late 1980's selling IBM clones).

There used to be a Middle Eastern restaurant in the same location but this place was completely different so I didn't think about it. There is a line so a young guy asks if I want here or to-go. I tell him for here and point to an outside table and he brings me my food. I finish and go to pay and hear: "Hello my old friend!" and it was Samir. His place was one of six that I rotated through for lunch back then if I didn't bring anything with me for the day.

Stopped into the UW Public Surplus store - the place had been pretty well picked over but I will return from time to time. They did have a gorgeous digital pipe organ - an Ahlborn-Galenti three manual - but at $5,999 they were asking way too much money for it. Here is a photo of a similar modern unit - three manual, tumbler stop tabs and full pedalboard:

The problem is that many of these units use proprietary circuit boards and if something fails (the unit was well over ten years old), you are out of luck getting repair parts. If it had been listed for $300 or so, I would have scarfed it up and used the case as a platform for a Hauptwerk machine but no such luck. Like I really need another project anyway.

Heading out with T for a few errands. Having a wonderful time!
