The wildfire smoke was really bad last week and now it is moving in again. From Cliff Mass:
Smoke Now Pushing Into Western Washington
During the next 12 hours there should be a major influx of wildfire smoke into the lower elevations of western Washington.
The MODIS satellite imagery around noon showed very dense smoke over eastern WA and the north Cascades, with lesser but substantial smoke now over northwest Washington, with a thinning from Seattle southward.
Looking at being worse than last week - the setting sun was blood red tonight. Beautiful but not good.
I really wish that the US Government managed our forests better - more in tune with nature. The number of large fires would drop. Sure, we would have a lot more smaller fires but they would burn themselves out and the forest would be rejuvenated. Now, we prevent fires at all cost while the fire load (available fuel) ratchets up year after year until there is a huge conflagration.
