The teacher for the Photography session (The Art of Photographing Birds) was local photographer Karen Ulvestad.
Really wonderful work and I learned a lot. I have been shooting since grade school and processing my own B&W and Color prints so I knew the basic stuff but she taught me a lot about lighting for birds as well as post-processing to bring out the best realistic detail (post-processing is the computer analog to working in the darkroom). She encouraged questions so a lot of great information was passed around.
I did not find out who these two people were but they were downstairs with a gorgeous Horned Owl and Harris Hawk. The Harris Hawk is a working bird, he is hired out to discourage other birds from nesting in sensitive areas (the local refineries are a major client). Really sweet temperaments on both of them.
The owl was right by the window so I got a lot better light.
Anyway, going to fix some split pea soup for dinner (about 20 minutes in the Instant Pot - love that thing).
That hawk looks... composed cause fearless.
