Got this in the mail from weather.com:

Gale Warning for Northern Inland Waters Including The San Juan Islands
...GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM PST TUESDAY... ...FREEZING SPRAY ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON PST TUESDAY... * WIND...NORTHEAST 30 TO 45 KT. * ICE ACCUMULATIONS...0.1 TO 0.2 INCHES PER HOUR. * MAIN IMPACT...LIGHT TO MODERATE ACCUMULATION OF ICE IS EXPECTED ON VESSELS. OPERATING A VESSEL IN FREEZING SPRAY CAN BE HAZARDOUS. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT VESSELS BE PREPARED TO TAKE APPROPRIATE COUNTER MEASURES BEFORE PUTTING TO SEA OR ENTER THE ADVISORY AREA. ICE ACCUMULATIONS ON DECKS AND SUPERSTRUCTURES CAN MAKE OPERATIONS UNSAFE. SMALLER VESSELS CAN BECOME TOP HEAVY AND UNSTABLE. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A GALE WARNING MEANS WINDS OF 34 TO 47 KNOTS ARE IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. OPERATING A VESSEL IN GALE CONDITIONS REQUIRES EXPERIENCE AND PROPERLY EQUIPPED VESSELS. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT MARINERS WITHOUT THE PROPER EXPERIENCE SEEK SAFE HARBOR PRIOR TO THE ONSET OF GALE CONDITIONS. A FREEZING SPRAY ADVISORY MEANS THAT LIGHT TO MODERATE ACCUMULATION OF ICE IS EXPECTED ON VESSELS. OPERATING A VESSEL IN FREEZING SPRAY CAN BE HAZARDOUS. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT VESSELS BE PREPARED TO TAKE APPROPRIATE COUNTER MEASURES BEFORE PUTTING TO SEA OR ENTER THE ADVISORY AREA. &&

Mild winter except for this cold event but a lot more wind than normal. The local electricity is fine but there are a lot of scattered outages in Maple Falls - good call on staying down here for the duration. The good news is that the day of the December Solstice was 08:25:27 long (hours, minutes, seconds) and today will be 09:43:08.
