Got a call from a contractor so met them to look at a tree.
The big news is that I found out that I would not be able to build a shop at my house. The County requires a fairly large setback from the road so the place I was thinking of was not do-able.
The Real Estate agent that I went through for the house purchase found me a one acre lot a couple of miles away that is just perfect (almost). The bad news is that it is part of a sub-division and two other houses from that sub-division have their septic drain fields located on the site. The good news is that these are not the septic tanks - those are stinky and potentially sources of infection. These are the final drain-fields and odorless and safe. The other bad news is that there is no water available from the development. I will need to use a composting or chemical toilet and bring potable bottled water for consumption and cooking. I will be installing a rain catchment system for non-potable water (slack tub, quenching, etc...) With all of the easements, I still have about half of the acre available for building.
The good news is that it is fairly level, has enough space for a nice large shop with plenty of parking. The other good news is that I was able to purchase a one acre lot on Camano Island for $30,000.
Crow Island Forge moves ahead. Putting the inside remodeling of the house on a bit of a back burner as I really need to get some cash coming in from the business.
