Now I am an official Camano Island resident - I bought a boat.
18 foot long Catalina Capri - designed to be a family day sailer or a cruiser for 1-2 people for a week or more. Perfect for potting around the San Juan islands or running up the inside passage of Vancouver Island. I rented space at a local boat storage facility for one month to stash it - I have a spot in my front yard but need to move two planters first. 23 years old but really solid construction - went over it with a fine tooth comb and zero issues with delamination.
It is beamy - fairly wide - so slow but bulletproof. Very seaworthy and safe. The wide beam is what also makes it a perfect boat for longer cruises with one or two people. Only 18 feet long but tons of storage space. There are two cases of people taking these to Hawaii.
Via Media means The Middle Path - I like it. The outboard engine is one year old - less than 20 hours on the meter. Trailer is in decent shape as well (needs new wiring for the lights though) - all for $3,900. Great deal.
Got too much on my plate now to take it out but planning to do some cruising later this fall - when the good winds return. Sails are in excellent shape (checked them out before buying). There is a really nice kennel nearby so will be boarding the pups when I do any long-term cruising.
