Futile? Impotent? Worthless?

Some liberal activists are in the news - from The Washington Post:

Hundreds protest against Wal-Mart in 15 cities, demanding higher wages
Hundreds of people protested at a suburban Maryland Wal-Mart over wages and worker protections Thursday as D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray (D) weighed whether to sign legislation that would force the nation’s largest retailer to pay a 50 percent premium over the city’s minimum wage.

The national day of action, which spanned 15 cities, was the latest in a running battle between Wal-Mart and activists backed by national unions.

Oooooooooo - they staged a National Day of Action and only managed to drum up hundreds of people. These morons have nothing. They are living out the bitter ends of their communist fever-dreams in the safety of their parents basements tucked under their Star Wars© blankie and raging, raging I tell you, against the evils of that Orange Man

As a reality check, Walmart employs 2.2 million people worldwide. From their website:

Opportunity
Walmart employs 2.2 million associates around the world. About 75% of our store management teams started as hourly associates, and last year, we promoted more than 215,000 people to jobs with greater responsibility and higher pay.

Bring willingness to work to the table, you will get promoted to positions of higher responsibility and higher pay.

Let us be generous and say that four thousand people showed up to protest. These people represent 0.18% of the number of people that Walmart gainfully employs. In most engineering analyses, this would be considered to be well below the noise floor.

The unions like to raise the minimum wage because a lot of union contracts are pegged to this number. Something not mentioned in the mainstream media.
