The head of M.I.T.’S media lab resigns, amid claims he was part of an effort to cover up donations made by Jeffrey Epstein.
Joichi Ito stepped down Saturday, just one day after a bombshell New Yorker article revealed he continued to work with Epstein, despite him being listed as “disqualified” in the university’s donor database.
M.I.T. previously acknowledged it had received $800,000 from Epstein. However, the university was reportedly unaware that the late financier helped secure more than $7.5 million in donations for the lab, including two million dollars from Bill Gates.
Ito has had a very interesting life. Being director of the MIT Media Lab is a plum position. Screwed it up.
