Craigslist deal was awesome

Someone north of here was selling the motor and fan from a smallish dust collection system for woodworking. Not this but very similar:

What I picked up today was just the fan and the motor. No mounting, no dust bags, nothing else. The full units sell for $250 at Grizzly and I got just the blower for $40. Sweet deal.

I will be using this for my new forges - both propane and coal. My original propane forge had three engineering "issues" that I am planning to correct with the next design. I have sold it and informed the buyer - it works great, just not optimal. I had built it with two Ron Reil naturally asperated burners but I made the working aperture a bit too small so as the gasses heated up and expanded, the resulting back pressure in the forge caused the burners to stall a little bit. Solution? Open the door a little bit.

The forge I am building now will use a ribbon burner which uses forced air and propane. (here, here, and here)

This blower will be perfect for running the ribbon burner as well as providing forced air for the coal forge. In my shop, I will be building a small mechanicals shed outside with the air compressor and hydraulic pump. I will mount this blower out there so it will be nice and quiet in the shop.

We were both happy with the deal.
