There was a public shooting at a Jersey City deli - they were targeting jews. From the New York Daily Post:

One of the two shooters who fatally shot up a Jersey City Jewish deli in what officials say was a “targeted” attack posted anti-Jewish and anti-police messages to social media before the chaotic attack that left three civilians and a cop dead, law enforcement sources said Wednesday.
Sources said David Anderson, who committed the deadly Tuesday attack with a woman identified as Francine Graham, was a one-time follower of the Black Hebrew Israelite movement and made the hateful postings on his social media page.

Report: Black Hebrew Israelites confronting Covington Catholic students a ‘hate group’
In a statement released Sunday to the media, Covington Catholic High School junior Nick Sandmann, who was shown over the weekend standing face-to-face with an indigenous man Friday in Washington, D.C., said the standoff took place after four African-American protesters said “hateful things” to Sandmann and a group of his classmates.
“They called us ‘racists,’ ‘bigots,’ ‘white crackers,’ ‘faggots’ and ‘incest kids.’ They also taunted an African-American student from my school by telling him that we would ‘harvest his organs.’ I have no idea what that insult means, but it was startling to hear,” Sandmann wrote.
They are so off the charts that the Southern Poverty Law Center has this to say:
In its magazine, “Intelligence Report,” the Southern Poverty Law Center calls the Black Hebrew Israelites a hate group that is “becoming more militant.”

And of course, Nicholas Sandmann filed suit February against Washington Post, CNN and NBC for their defamatory reporting. The Gateway Pundit has a November update:

Federal Judge William Bertelsman reopened the $250 million defamation case filed by Covington Catholic student Nicholas Sandmann against the Washington Post in late October.
Sixteen-year-old Covington Catholic student Nicholas Sandmann was smeared and maligned by the liberal press after he was harassed in Washington DC following the March for Life. The Washington Post accused the teen of blocking and impeding Nathan Phillips as the native American elder was harassing the Catholic boys in Trump hats. It was all a lie and the Washington Post was one of the leading liberal outlets attacking the young Catholic boys.
The same judge has now ruled in similar cases against CNN and NBC.
This allows the cases to move forward on the same basis as the WaPo case.
Good. These lawsuits need to be very public and the judgment needs to actually hurt. Hurt a lot. Teach them a lesson that will be incorporated into their corporate DNA.
