All the liberals are running around with their hair on fire. National Public Radio is the house organ of the Democratic Party. I must issue a disclaimer: they do some great work - I listen to them all the time. Don't agree with everything but I do listen.
Anyway, NPR interviewer Mary Louise Kelly asked to interview Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and brought with her a major agenda. Her goal in the interview was to cast Mr. Pompeo and our President in a bad light. Our Sec. State was having nothing of this and ushered her out of his office - apparently with quite a bit of salty language. Punch back twice as hard.
Ms. Kelly reported this and got the usual warm tongue-bath from her fellow travelers. President Trump decided to have a bit of fun with the whole story - from Mother Jones (almost as liberal as NPR):
Trump Threatens to Cut NPR’s Funding After Pompeo Meltdown
Two days ago, NPR reporter Mary Louise Kelly revealed that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had berated her with expletives after she asked him about the Ukraine scandal. Today, President Donald Trump chimed in—by appearing to threaten to cut off NPR’s federal funding.
Trump retweeted a comment from right-wing radio host Mark Levin, who had highlighted a Fox News story about the Pompeo controversy and asked: “Why does NPR still exist? We have thousands of radio stations in the U.S. Plus Satellite radio. Podcasts. Why are we paying for this big-government, Democrat Party propaganda operation.” Trump added that Levin’s tweet raised a “very good question!”
A very good question! https://t.co/8z6uQLKz8M

Very good question indeed - even England is looking at privatizing the Beeb. I remember the scandal when NPR started accepting advertising - got to pay for those nice cushy offices somehow. Would not be prudent to operate out of Detroit or Dallas.
And they have some numbers:
It’s also important to note that only a small portion of NPR’s funding actually comes from tax dollars. According to its latest financial report, just 1 percent of its annual operating budget consists of “grants from Corporation for Public Broadcasting and federal agencies and departments.”
If it is only one percent, cut the ties and be done with it. If their numbers are correct, 1% is a rounding error. It is pocket change. They do not need to be at the Government Teat. Why are they complaining so loudly if it is only one percent.
