And it is someone 50 miles South of here. From Seattle station KING-5:
Health officials give update on first U.S. death from coronavirus in Washington state
Health officials confirmed Saturday one person has died from the 2019 novel coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19, in the state.
This is the first known death of COVID-19 in the United States.
The person who died was a man in his 50s with underlying health conditions, according to Dr. Jeff Duchin with Public Health Seattle & King County. The man had no history of travel or known contact with anyone suffering from COVID-19.
The man was tested at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland where he was admitted with “serious respiratory issues,” according to EvergreenHealth officials. There is a second patient that also tested positive who is now in isolation and receiving treatment, according to officials.
The usual drill - avoid crowds, be obsessive about sanitation, maintain a couple weeks of food in case you want to self-quarantine. I love that there was no history of travel or known contact. This was the result of contact with someone who was already infected but not symptomatic. No way to check for that at all. 14-21 day incubation time during which this is the case.
