And another city opens up in defiance

Nice use of the words: "sanctuary city" - from disrn:

Atwater, CA declares itself "sanctuary city" from lockdown, allows businesses to open
In defiance of Gov. Gavin Newsom's statewide lockdown orders, the city council of Atwater, California unanimously passed a resolution Friday declaring the city of 30,000 a "sanctuary city" in which businesses and churches will be allowed to open.

As a result of the resolution, businesses and houses of worship will be allowed to open and operate free from interference from local authorities.

Atwater Mayor Paul Creighton said:

"This is America. You have the choice. It's time for the government to stop dictating another month, another three months, six months. When is it going to end? When everyone is bankrupt?"

Good move - punching back twice as hard. Remember this paragraph from the Mayor of Burlington's letter yesterday:

But, after watching the interview you did with Bernie Sanders on May 13th, my trust in your motives is gone. Frankly, I was appalled that the Governor of the state would in, a brief moment of unfettered honesty, express your willingness to use this “crisis to peddle a solution to climate change” that will “allow us to rebuild our economy and jump start it” in a more green manner. Your willingness to politically weaponize this terrible disease to further your climate change agenda shows a fundamental lack of leadership. True leaders do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reasons and let the political chips fall where they may.

The politicians are using this crisis to advance their agendas and they are not working for us to serve us and to protect us. The lockdown is political and not a matter of public health.
