Early lunch and then to work.
My older shepherd Grace was in a bit of hot water yesterday. She grew up on the farm and one of her jobs was to chase off any coyotes or other critters that might come and nibble on my other critters. She understands boundaries and never went beyond the fence line or chased cars or such, just critters. She has been really good on the island, learning the property line and staying within it. A few early adventures but she has it down now.
Was outside yesterday, saw a bicycle ride past and she was off. She stopped at the property line and came back when I called her. She was dutifully sheepish but she messed up and spent the night in the garage for it. She has been very affectionate this morning so on my errand run, I stopped by my local butcher and picked up a big bag of fresh bones for her and Bear to gnaw on.
I have not given the bones out quite yet (they know very well what is in the bag) as I want to reinforce that I am the Alpha male in this household but I will hand them out after I have eaten my lunch. Should be a couple of very happy pups.
