Whenever I hear about "great new ideas" for teaching, I am reminded of these numbers:
It comes from page two of this PDF report: State Education Trends - Academic Performance and Spending over the Past 40 Years by the CATO Institute.
A lot of what you are seeing is all of the administrative overhead that has been added, the cost of all the diversity programs, the cost of the Vice Principles, the additional support staff. We do not need these many people educating our children. This has become a make-work program for all of the non-essential workers with Education degrees. Blame the teachers unions as well - they are mandating increased hiring without any bearing on how the children perform.
The numbers simply do not lie.
Title of the post? The great Kinks song. Video here.
