Had a fun time satisfying my inner Ferengi except for the bain-marie. I knew that these cost about $15 and I would need two of them (round stainless steel pot with sloping sides - they nest leaving about an inch or two at the bottom for the boiling water and about 3/8 inch between the two walls for the steam jacket). The local restaurant supply did have them but they were $28 each. Not paying $60 for something to heat up my left over soups and stews thank you very much.
Two of the local thrift stores have opened back up and I have been looking for a double-boiler there for the last month. Amazon does have a Winco four quart pan for $13 plus $9 for the lid - may get that - you do not want to fill it up all the way hence getting a four quart size. 1/2 max. 1/3 is better.
Got everything else I was looking for. Lots of cool stuff for sale at the photo store but nothing I wanted. Looking for a good telephoto in the 600mm range. There are some older Nikon lenses that are not auto-focus so not as "in vogue" but they are tack sharp - it is the glass that matters after all.
Unpack the car and get dinner going - a salad and some fresh corn on the cob. I had made some cold tuna salad a few days ago so putting the last of that in with some fresh lettuce and other goodies.
Picked up a bag of dog bones on the way back. Bear has been very very attentive. We still both really miss Grace - she was a complete part of our lives and her death has left a large hole.
