My older shepherd Grace had been having some behavioral issues in the last couple of months and it seems that there was an underlying medical problem that I did not catch.
She was lethargic yesterday and passed away sometime during the night. Woke up about an hour ago to find her curled up near the bed and stiff with rigor. She would have been 13 this August. Taken too soon dammit - this is the one place where God really screwed up.
I have grocery deliveries this afternoon but going to start a little cemetery down here. Been digging too many graves in the last 20 years - other farm critters as well as my Mom and my Dad. It does give closure to pat the final clods of dirt over them but damn it hurts.
A really good friend, much loved by many. Thank God I have Bear for company.
