I mentioned in my last post that I was starting to read his stuff and that I was already quite familiar with his Bolitho series written as Alexander Kent.
This is like night and day - different writing styles and if I did not know, I would say that these were written by two different people.
Two different subjects and time periods - what I am starting to read now was based on Reeman's personal experience as he served in the British Navy during WWII whereas the Bolitho series is historical fiction set in Nelson's Navy but still, a lot different writing style. Very very good - very dense so it takes a little while to get into it but I am hooked.
Started this morning with A Dawn Like Thunder - not the first but these books seem to be stand-alone stories unlike the Bolitho series.
To my joy, Mr. Reeman was quite a prolific author (he crossed the bar in 2017) - there are 32 books in the WWII canon. There is a used book store in Mt. Vernon selling them for $3 each - this will keep my brain fed until the library reopens.
