Lenin, Mao, Castro, Chavez - they all shut down the public places to quell discourse. In the prelude to America's War of Independence, coffee houses, taverns and houses of worship were valuable places to meet and argue and explore ideas about how the government should function and how We The People should be governed.
Our nation will reopen and I hope that when the next "crisis" manifests, the people pulling this kind of shit will be shouted down. All of the current problems seem to be found in cities which have a history of Democratic ownership.
