The City of Seattle - council is too powerful

The City Council has overridden a Mayor's Veto.  That is a power grab and they need to be shut down. What laws currently on the books give them that much power. My bet is that they do not legally have this authority, they are just taking it in a soviet power grab and the mayor is too timid to object.

From CBS News:

Seattle City Council overrides mayor's veto of partial reallocation of police funding
Seattle will reduce the police department's budget and reallocate some money to community programs after the City Council voted Tuesday evening to override Mayor Jenny Durkan's vetoes of adjustments to this year's budget.

The council's proposals approved last month were supported by demonstrators who have marched in the city for months following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis but were strongly opposed by the mayor and former police Chief Carmen Best.

"Divestment from a broken policing model is not only the right thing to do … I believe it is the needed course of action," Council President M. Lorena González said. "We cannot look away from this and we can no longer accept the status quo if we truly believe that Black lives matter."

And here is a perfect sample of the wisdom and maturity of the council - from FOX News:

Seattle hires former pimp as 'street czar' for $150,000 after CHOP fiasco
Seattle is paying an ex-pimp $150,000 a year to act as the city's "street czar" and offer "alternatives to policing" after protests morphed into the no-police-allowed Capitol Hill Occupied Protest.

Activist Andre Taylor is open about his past as a pimp (he appeared in the documentary "American Pimp") and is working with the city of Seattle through his nonprofit, Not This Time. Taylor says he started Not This Time after his brother Che Taylor was killed by Seattle police in 2016.

Words fail. And of course this communist's brother was named Che.
Yes, that Che. Go and read to find out the ream man behind the "legend"
