As the disinformation campaign ramps up - NY Times

Wonder how much Chairman Xi paid the New York Times to publish this load of propaganda.
Probably nothing as they are already slobbering over our erstwhile new masters hoping to ingratiate themselves with them. After all, they did such a knock-up job with Walter Duranty's crap. Hey still has his Pulitzer Prize.

How Steve Bannon and a Chinese Billionaire Created a Right-Wing Coronavirus Media Sensation
Dr. Li-Meng Yan wanted to remain anonymous. It was mid-January, and Dr. Yan, a researcher in Hong Kong, had been hearing rumors about a dangerous new virus in mainland China that the government was playing down. Terrified for her personal safety and career, she reached out to her favorite Chinese YouTube host, known for criticizing the Chinese government.

Within days, the host was telling his 100,000 followers that the coronavirus had been deliberately released by the Chinese Communist Party. He wouldn’t name the whistle-blower, he said, because officials could make the person “disappear.”

By September, Dr. Yan had abandoned caution. She appeared in the United States on Fox News making the unsubstantiated claim to millions that the coronavirus was a bio-weapon manufactured by China.

Overnight, Dr. Yan became a right-wing media sensation, with top advisers to President Trump and conservative pundits hailing her as a hero. Nearly as quickly, her interview was labeled on social media as containing “false information,” while scientists rejected her research as a polemic dressed up in jargon.

More at the site. This is total misreporting of the facts.  Does the NY Times not have any shame?

China is trying to quash any association with the Wuhan Flu - first, by convincing the media to abandon the long-standing practice of naming a pandemic after its point of origin: Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, the Spanish Flu and Ebola (a river in Zaire) are but three examples. Next, they said it originated in a food market close to their biolab in Wuhan.  The signature of the virus shows that it was in part man-made. China has been dissapearing whistle-blowers (at least five). Their centralized top-down government has been paralyzed by analysis paralysis. China does not enjoy a free press so the real news is always censored by the state-sponsored media. Their handling of the Wuhan Flu has been one big hot mess.  To top it off, Dr. Yan is not just some researcher, she is a Virologist and was one of the first people working with the Wuhan Flu when it first started infecting Asian citizens (She worked at the Hong Kong School of Public Health).

I know that the major news outlets are biased but this goes beyond bias and into out and out propaganda.
A few words on the subject:

All this was inspired by the principle—which is quite true within itself—that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.

It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.
— Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, vol. I, ch. X

This is what we are dealing with today - this is how far this Republic has fallen. Time to clean house.
