Michigan may have paid out $1.5 billion in fraudulent unemployment claims; director reportedly said it was not a "high priority"
A new audit shows the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency may have paid out more than $1.5 billion in claims without checking them for fraud.
The 30-page report done by consulting firm Deloitte, shows those claims were considered higher-risk.
The company interviewed 24 UIA and Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) personnel including executive leadership. They reviewed documents, emails, charts, polices, and federal and state UI guidance.
Typical Democrat run government - corrupt and incompetent. Nobody is held accountable. If someone does get caught, they get moved to a different office for six months and then they usually get reinstated at higher pay. As a taxpayer, that is my money they are wasting - it was in part federally funded.
