A little mixed up - BillG

He is a little bit Streisand Effect, a good measure of Dunning-Kruger and the other 60% comes from willfully living in a bubble (here, here, and here to start) surrounded by Yes Men.

From Reuters, BillG is surprised:

'Crazy and evil': Bill Gates surprised by pandemic conspiracies
Microsoft co-founder turned philanthropist Bill Gates says he has been taken aback by the volume of “crazy” and “evil” conspiracy theories about him spreading on social media during the COVID-19 pandemic, but said on Wednesday he would like to explore what is behind them.

In an interview with Reuters, Gates said the millions of online posts and “crazy conspiracy theories” about him and about top U.S. infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci had likely taken hold in part because of the combination of a frightening viral pandemic and the rise of social media.

“Nobody would have predicted that I and Dr. Fauci would be so prominent in these really evil theories,” Gates said.

“I’m very surprised by that. I hope it goes away.”

BillG lives in his own world. He is little bothered by the comings and goings of We The People.  His concerns are him, his family and his work.  Understanding our concerns do not rank very high on his scale. I do not know but I would be willing to bet that he read Isaac Asimov's Foundation series when he was a kid and that BillG sees himself as another Hari Seldon.  A benevolent autocrat. The only problem - a problem that has never furrowed BillG's brow - is that benevolent autocrats never work.  Socialism never works. Communism never works.  Democracies do not work.

Any form of government where power is held by a central body will not work efficiently. Our founders tried to limit the power of the Federal Government by making our government a Republic of States.  The power resided in the individual states and the Federal Government was there only to defend the nation, establish currency and regulate things like highways, utilities, etc... (painting with a broad brush here).  The idea that giving more power to the central government is absolutely stupid.  It will never work.   World government? Stupidity amplified by several orders of magnitude.

Maybe BillG will wake up. Come to his senses, get off the world stage and persuade his BFFs to do the same.  Probably never happen - they get their jollies by meddling. One can hope.

Oh. And BillG?  Your attempts to manipulate and 'nudge' society actually are both Crazy and Evil.  By definition.
