National Rifle Association

Great idea but the CEO is a fool so not a member.  Good thing too - they are bankrupt. From Reuters:

National Rifle Association files for bankruptcy, seeking to escape New York lawsuit
The National Rifle Association on Friday filed for bankruptcy, a sudden development that could help the gun rights group escape a lawsuit by New York’s attorney general seeking its dissolution.

The NRA filed for Chapter 11 protection in federal bankruptcy court in Dallas, and said it plans to reincorporate in Texas to escape “a corrupt political and regulatory environment” in New York, where it is now incorporated.

“Texas values the contributions of the NRA, celebrates our law-abiding members, and joins us as a partner in upholding constitutional freedom,” Chief Executive Wayne LaPierre said in a letter to members. “We seek protection from New York officials who illegally abused and weaponized the powers they wield against the NRA and its members.”

The NRA was sued in August by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who accused LaPierre and other senior leaders of self-dealing and mismanagement, and said the group’s activities violated state laws governing nonprofits.

James said NRA officials diverted millions of dollars to fund luxury lifestyles, including vacations and private jets, and to buy the silence and loyalty of former employees, costing the group $64 million over three years.

There is more at the site.  The last sentence covers a lot of the complaints about the NRA - complaints that have been going on for quite some time.

From The Washington Post  November 25th, 2020:

NRA reports alleged misspending by current and former executives to IRS
After years of denying allegations of lax financial oversight, the National Rifle Association has made a stunning declaration in a new tax filing: Current and former executives used the nonprofit group’s money for personal benefit and enrichment.

From FOX News  May 2nd, 2019:

NRA Chief Wayne LaPierre questioned on $240G travel expenses
National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre charged the organization’s ad agency more than $240,000 for expenses related to trips he took to Italy, Hungary, the Bahamas and other locales without providing adequate documentation, according to a letter from the ad agency given to the group’s board last week and described by people familiar with the matter.

There is even a website dedicated to saving the NRA from Wayne LaPierre.

Much more if you do even the simplest of Duck Duck Go searches. Reformation is a very hard thing to go through but it is very powerful and very cleansing.  Time for the NRA to reform and get back to doing their job.  Representing us - the members of The Nation of Riflemen.
