Slept in a bit more than usual. Overcast but not raining (yet). Working on the music room - putting some finish on three pieces of countertop. Decided to splurge and get some butcherblock - going to look gorgeous. Making the frames out of 1.5" tubular steel welded together and rolling on some industrial casters. A nice combo of high-tech and traditional woodworking.
Found out that it was dead simple to make wipe-on polyurethane finish - take regular poly and dilute it 50/50 with mineral spirits - that's all it is. Same stuff and much cheaper. Now that I have the living room heated with the coal fireplace, I'll do the finishing there - nice and warm to get a good hard surface.
Heading out for coffee in a little while - back early afternoon.
