Dinnertime

Fixing some oven-roasted vegetables and baked marinated tofu for dinner. Another trip to Bellingham tomorrow should do it.  Need to spend some time at the storage unit organizing things there.

Local excitement in that two of the major east/west highways are closed.  The smaller of the two (Route 20) due to a landslide and the primary one (Interstate 90) for bad weather - spinouts and crashes Oh. My...

Otherwise, a slow news day and a nice quiet afternoon for me.

Cliff Mass has some encouraging words about later this week:

Convergence Zone Snow Tonight and Major Lowland Snow Event Possible Later this Week
A major lowland snow event is increasingly possible starting on Thursday and Friday, but uncertainly is still substantial.  But before I get into that, let us start with the potential for light snow tonight, particularly for higher elevations north of Seattle.

Cliff then presents us 27 8X10 color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back...
(whoops - wrong decade).   And then, Cliff drops this on us:

All of this is just a "warm up" for the real action
Our region is going to be hit by the coldest air this winter and by Thursday we won't get out of the 30s and perhaps even the 20s. I mean cold, really cold. Windy.

And major forecast systems are now going for major lowland snow. The latest European Center forecast has around 15 inches of total snowfall over central Puget Sound by Friday afternoon! How much would pile up? Perhaps half of that.

I am very glad that I have been insulating the garage - the water comes into the house through the wall there.  Not good to have the pipes freeze. Funny too as I just picked up two more propane tanks - I now have enough to keep the garage warm-ish for several days. Plus to run the cookstove. I even have coffee here if I can not get out.  But I also have snowshoes and my place is only two miles away.

Only the best - WA State is good to be rid of her but... was the previous entry in this blog.

That about describes it for me is the next entry in this blog.
