False flag operation? It's a blast

Overheard in some basement at some TLA agency in DC.

Everyone is dumping on the Big Guy.  Incriminating details are coming out as to just how tender the situation was. The border is in crisis. People are learning the truth about COVID. Inflation is worse than we think. Time to distract people.

I know, let's activate a couple of our mentally ill people - say, New York City and Washington D.C..  We haven't done a bomb for a long time - let's do one each.  And, push the narrative that these are right-wing extremests.  That should take some of the heat off for a while.
