That $20 in your wallet was just magically transmogrified into less than $19. From Breitbart:
Consumer Prices Up 5.3 Percent as Food, Fuel, and Shelter Surge Higher
Consumer prices rose again in August, albeit at a slower pace than earlier in the summer.
The Consumer Price Index rose 5.3 percent compared with a year ago, the Department of Labor said Tuesday. On a monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.3 percent.
Food prices are up 3.7% - got to keep the proles fed. Gasoline prices are up 42.7%.
New vehicles and used vehicles are up 7.6% and 31.9% respectively. Got to keep the car companies in business (big donors after all) but screw the little guy trying to get something to drive their familiy around.
