Really fun town. Stopped in at the R.A. Moog factory - closed on Saturday but their store was open and staffed by two very knowledgeable people. We reminisced about the days of yore. I had met Bob once when I worked at Microsoft - he came to visit and gave a presentation. I own three pieces of Moog equipment and love them. My main synthesizer was built by these people: "synthesizers.com" Rodger based his designs on the original Moog patents (since expired) but built them using modern components so you get the wonderful sonorities and tone but the @#$% thing stays in tune for more than 30 minutes at a time. The original instruments were very sensitive to changes in temperature.
Here is the interior of the store:
And does the name Keith Emerson ring a bell?
This is not Keith's actual machine but it is an exact copy done by a world-renowned synthesizer technician who now works for Moog. Talk about a bit of history...
Staying outside of town near the freeway - need to find a nice Air B&B in town (walking distance) as I can see both Lisa and I coming over here every couple of months. Liberal as fsck but great culture and food. Yeah - you have to wear masks here. City and County "emergency" but there is a chance that it might sunset in a few days - we will see...
