The purchase is contingent on the sale of some property here so I negotiated a large down payment to hold it and closing in a couple of months. Made that payment this morning.
Gorgeous place - 4K sq. ft. on two levels. Eight acres on a mountaintop with sweeping views.
WA State was fun and I have some dear friends from here but the government incompetence and overreach is getting too much. Eastern North Carolina is Democrat-run shithole - the big cities. Western and rural NC is very conservative and serves as a nice balance. The governor is a classical Democrat who listens to his constituents and who has been very good throughout the coof crisis. Overall state politics is very conservative.
Needs a pole barn for my shop but everything else is there and in great condition.
I read those as well - good writer and he knows what could happen.
I looked at the Black Mountain area - gorgeous but it is in Buncombe County which is very very liberal. Asheville is about 20 miles away in the same county.
We are about 10 miles from the Tennessee and Georgia borders - very rural, very conservative.
I read "One Second After" and "One Year After" by William Forstchen, so am somewhat familiar with the your new neighborhood. I feel the need to tour Montreat College in Black Mountain and hope a CME or EMP never hits our electronically enhanced lifestyles!
