If he decides to step down on or before 1/21/2023, Kamala Harris will be able to finish off his two-year term but she will still be eligible for two more terms of office if she manages to be elected (see: party, Democrat). I know that Gruesome Newsome is angling for the spot - he has ruined California and wants to expand his grasp.
Kevin McCarthy is currently the third in line of succession.
