Nursing homes, assisted living facilities account for 42% of COVID-19 deaths despite being just 1.6% of U.S. population
Around 42% of coronavirus deaths have been in nursing homes, according to analysis done by The Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity.
The foundation focused on deaths both in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Minnesota had the highest percentage of deaths occurring in a nursing home or assisted living facility at 81%.
Just 1.6% of the population lives in nursing homes or residential care facilities, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"Among states reporting nursing and residential care home fatalities from COVID-19, nursing homes account for 42.1% of those deaths," the report said. "If we simply assume that this share holds true in non-reporting states, we get to a national share of 42.1% (i.e., identical to the share in reporting states)."
More at the site. Disgusting but not surprising. I would kill myself before being committed into one of those places. Some are good but some need to be shut down, their buildings raised and the earth salted.
