Seattle circling the drain

The whole system is plagued with rot. From Seattle station Q13:

Dozens of King County prosecutors want office to ignore some burglary, drug and assault cases
A group of King County prosecutors who are part of a working group on race and social justice has a long list of crimes they believe the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office should decline to file charges on, including in some cases when officers are assaulted.

According to a letter obtained by Q13 News and signed by dozens of current King County deputy prosecutors, the group also wants to change the influence and input law enforcement has on criminal cases.

“We are committed to being servants of our community, and our community is crying out for a new vision of justice, now more than ever,” reads the letter, a proposal from the King County DPAA Equity & Justice Workgroup. “We join those cries wholeheartedly, and we urge you not to miss this moment.”

The letter is at the Q13 website and it is well written with nice measured words but what it expresses is beyond contempt. It suggests that the King County Prosecuting Attorneys abrogate their charter to prosecute crimes equitably and lawfully. It calls for instances where the law can be set aside for someone who is a special case. They call this a "new vision of justice".

I have this idea that colleges and universities should eliminate any class that contains the word "Studies" in its course description. These are useless to a good education and are generally a cover word for indoctrination and an easy A.

I would like to suggest that any time anyone introduces the word "justice" into a legal discussion, that person and their thesis be tossed out immediately and they be mocked and reviled. The world would be a much better place for this and the healing process would be a lot of fun. Time to bring back the pillory.
